Bjorn Weckstrom Jewellery

Bjorn Weckstrom (born 1935) a renowned jewellery designer and sculptor was born in Helsinki, Finland where he studied goldsmithy at the Finnish Goldsmith School of Helsinki. After graduation in 1956 he opened his first gallery to showcase his jewellery designs. In 1963 Koppel started his long collaboration with the jewellery company Lapponia producing his signature jewellery of rough matt surfaces sometimes with uncut semi-precious stones and was probably the first designer in the early 1970s to radically combine acrylic with silver in his jewellery. Known also as an acclaimed sculptor he has exhibited in more than 60 shows worldwide from 1963 to 2016 and continues to work in both Finland and Italy.
